Curriculum Revisions
Based on the SE community feedback in our survey last year, combined with
the results of discussions at the FHE faculty meeting in January, the curriculum
committee prepared a preliminary proposal for reorganizing and revising
the full SE curriculum from the Beginning through Advanced years. This proposal
was sent to FHE faculty for review and feedback in late May. Faculty responses
are now being compiled and a new draft of the curriculum will be sent to
faculty in early August. We are on track to have our revised curriculum
plan completed by the end of 2006.
Manual Revision
Concurrently with the curriculum revision, the SE manual will also be completely
revised for Beginning through Advanced years. FHE faculty have now contributed
many hundreds of pages of written material to be used for reference in the
production of the new manual. In addition, the manual committee has initiated
a literature search for additional reference and support material, in particular
for the categories of trauma as taught in the Intermediate year. The manual
committee is currently reviewing the material provided by faculty so it
can be compiled into a preliminary draft of the manual, which in turn will
be submitted to faculty for feedback and revision. We have been blessed
with an abundance of resources from our faculty and this will take time
to review. However, we still expect to be on track for having a new SE manual
by early 2007.
Student Resources on the FHE Website
In conjunction with the FHE webmaster, we have also formulated a plan for
having much of our reference material posted to the FHE website in a special
student and professional resources section. This will allow us to have full
color illustrations, Powerpoint presentations, professional articles, and
links to other sites with additional resources available directly to students
and other professionals. This will also allow us to keep our student resources
as up to date as possible. Of course the manual will contain the core SE
material and essential student resources, but use of the website will expand
the options for students who are interested in exploring specific SE topics
in more depth.
