FHE NEWS
Letter from
Peter Levine, Ph.D.
Dear Students, Faculty and Organizers:
As you probably know, Jane Hansberry recently retired from her tenure as Executive Director of the FHE. Since the time of Jane’s announcement in June, I have been working closely with her, Bruce Gottlieb (our new Board President), and Kathy Kain (our Director of Education), as well as with the administrative staff at the Colorado office (Karen, Lori, Laura and Joyce). In maintaining the vital operations of the office, these administrative personnel have demonstrated their superior professionalism and proficiency. In our present state of financial challenge, we can all be reassured that the FHE is in good hands under this teams’ dedicated leadership. There are significant challenges, but know that we are dealing with them. Bruce and I have taken over many of the day-to-day decision making responsibilities in guiding the Foundation. This return to my former role (if not former life), when I founded the Colorado organization in 1994, engages a great deal of time and energy. While this presents difficulties for my very busy life, I am hopeful about my active (hands on) role in the Foundations’ operations and potential for evolution and ‘rebirth.’ Along with our wise senior faculty, the organization now includes several new, enthusiastic and wonderful world wide faculty. Further faculty development and accelerating growth will be an important part of our agenda in the next few years, as well as expanding our course curriculum.

Message from Board President
Hello to all,
As Peter has outlined, along with current financial challenges we are in a metamorphic process; a positive organic one. It is one that should bring about many new ideas and formats that will enhance the teaching of SE. We are constantly searching for ways to improve our teaching, enhance your and my learning, and deepening what SE has to offer. Our faculty has been working tirelessly on these projects and I am excited to see what hatches from this cocoon. Peter has also increased his involvement and it is nice to have him be more hands on (so to speak). Personally, I am looking forward to the above and I am looking forward to hearing more from our brothers and sisters in Canada, Europe and Brazil. I think you will soon find more workshops being offered which will deepen what you have already learned.
I especially what to thank our staff at the FHE, who are the quality backbone of the organization. Please, when you call into the main office, share your kindness and appreciation with these wonderful people. Thank you Karen, Joyce, Lori, and Laura. And thank you all for your efforts in continuing to develop this work. Oops, almost forgot to thank a group that not only volunteers their time, but at their own expense support the teachers and students at the same time. Thank you to all the assistants for holding the collective container. I, personally, have assisted in 5 States and Brazil, and soon will be assisting in Holland. I find this a wonderful experience and hope there is more to come.
Warmth,
Bruce

FHE Annual Registry
Looking for an economical and practical way to promote your practice? We get contacted by prospective clients who have just read one of Peter Levine’s books and want to find someone who is trained in SE! We also get contacted by professionals who want to refer clients to a therapist or body-worker who uses SE. So, how do we connect them to you? We refer them to the FHE Annual Registry!
With the New Year fast approaching, the time has come to be listed on the 2009 FHE Annual Practitioners Registry.
This professional registry is vital in helping the general public find those who use Somatic Experiencing in their practice AND is vital in assisting professionals in providing SE referrals to their patients and clients. But, if you’re not in the Annual Registry, they can’t find you!
Beginning December 31, 2008, all 2008 profiles will be removed from the registry. Below are the steps for either keeping or updating your current profile or to join the registry for 2009. All profiles will be posted beginning Jan 1, 2009.

SE Training Costs INCREASE
As we all know, the world-wide economy has not been the healthiest of late. Unfortunately, as a result, the FHE finds we must raise tuition to keep pace with costs. As of January 1, 2009, tuition will increase to $750 for each Beginning and Intermediate training module, and $1125.00 per Advanced module. We apologize for the short notice and understand this change may be difficult for some. For those who may be helped by putting their tuition on a payment plan, we will be waiving the $30 plan fee for the first three months of 2009.
The good news is that we can keep the current tuition prices through the end of this year. So, if you register for any of your 2009 trainings by December 31, 2008 and pay in full, the price of $675 for the Beginning and Intermediate level modules and $1012.50 for each Advanced module will still apply.
Please know that the FHE remains committed to offering the highest quality professional SE trainings at the lowest possible fees. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Out Of Your Mind and Into Your Body
SE at the Skirball Center!
R. Cassidy Seminars is proud to present Peter A. Levine, Ph.D., at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles on Friday, December 5! “Out Of Your Mind and Into Your Body, From Trauma to Awaking and Flow” will be a dynamic workshop presenting the “naturalistic” concepts of SE to the professional community. Topics to be discussed include neuroscience of PTSD; tracking sensations; and the relationship between PTSD, the autonomic nervous system and the sensory-motor system. This is the time for you and your colleagues to see Peter in his element – passionately talking about the methodology he developed and continues to teach. That very same passion will make this workshop a must see!

As part of your registration, you will also be invited to a free lunchtime fundraiser concert by guitar player, singer, harmonica man & songwriter, Dale Spalding. When not on tour with the legendary band Canned Heat or Latin Jazz giant Poncho Sanchez, Spalding performs as a member of Austin’s premier blues band, “Little Elmore Reed.” What a great way to enjoy lunch!
