SE Level: Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
Professional Description: Lael Katharine Keen has been working with holistic
healing methods since 1978. She holds diplomas from
the Rocky Mountain Healing Arts Institute, from the
Trager Institute, and from the Rolf Institute, as
well as being among the first class to complete the
Somatic Experiencing Professional Training with Dr.
Levine.
She holds a 5th degree black belt in Ki-Aikido, which
she has practice and taught for more than 20 years
in the United States and Brazil. It is her opinion
that the practice of Aikido, when used as a tool for
furthering presence of mind and body, has enormous
potential and resource for transforming trauma. She
and her husband (also SE trained) teach Ki Development
classes and seminars into which they weave many of
the concepts of Somatic Experiencing to help people
to learn to stay present in their bodies and centered
in the face of daily life challenges and stresses.
She is a member of the Rolf Institute faculty, certified
to teach both Rolfing and Rolfing Movement, and has
taught in the United States, Europe and South America.
She has been studying and continues to study Somatic
Experiencing intensively with Dr. Levine since 1993,
and was invited by him to become an instructor of
SE in 1998. She and her husband and daughter live
in Brazil where she teaches and practices SE and Rolfing.
