FHE NEWS
New FHE Website
After many months of hard work by our webmaster Lisa Armitage and program assistant Laura Piche, the FHE launched a NEW website early this summer! We hope you have all enjoyed exploring the website's new features and graphics, such as a page dedicated to Assistants and Sessions Providers (including an on-line application process) and YouTube interviews with Dr. Peter Levine.
SE Annual Registry
Early Reminder
With Autumn just around the corner, the FHE Staff would like to remind everyone that soon the time will come to be listed on the 2010 FHE Annual Practitioners Registry. Beginning December 31, 2009, all 2009 profiles will be removed from the registry. All new profiles will be posted beginning Jan 1, 2010.
Beginning in November the website will provide instructions for either keeping or updating your current profile. Information will also be available for those joining the registry for the first time in 2010.
This professional registry is vital in helping the general public find those who use Somatic Experiencing in their practice AND is vital in assisting professionals in providing SE referrals to their patients and clients. But, if you're not in the Annual Registry, they can't find you!
New SE Trainings
As the word continues to spread about SE, we are always on the lookout for new training locations. If you have contacts in an area that may be ready to support an SE training, please let us know and we'll be happy to follow up. In addition, if you know of any great, low cost facilities in cities already hosting our trainings, please pass those on and we'll check them out. We know that our SE community is our best resource and we're always happy to hear from you.

4 DVD set for Trauma Through A Child's Eyes
with Peter A. Levine, Ph.D., and Maggie Kline, M.S., M.F.T.
This highly anticipated DVD set, recorded October 2008 in Colorado, is geared for professionals who have an interest in working with children, as well as those wishing to deepen their understanding of inner child work with adults. You are able to watch as Peter and Maggie skillfully explore trauma along a developmental continuum from a somatic perspective of the child's emerging body-mind. In addition, you will discover that the effects of trauma can result from not only catastrophic events, such as abuse, violence, disasters, and the loss of loved ones, but from commonplace events such as accidents, falls, medical procedures, separations and divorce. At the core of this understanding is just how trauma is imprinted on the body, brain and spirit. This workshop demonstrates how trauma can be both prevented and resolved through play, art and sensory-motor activities through a combination of didactic presentations.

EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY
Check it out...
We have been hearing more and more from therapists who use SE with their clients during their equine (horse) assisted therapy sessions and we hope to have more information on this fascinating subject in a future newsletter. Jackie Ashley, MA, Somatic Psychotherapist, has been using this with her clients during sessions at the Colorado Horse Rescue. In an effort to help us bring together members of the SE community with the same interests, Jackie has agreed to be the contact person for those using SE in their equine assisted therapy practices. Jackie Ashley can be reached at squish@ecentral.com
