Professional Title: Somatic Psychotherapist
Professional Description: Dr. Heller holds a Ph.D in psychology and has over
30 years experience as a teacher and clinician in
the field of Somatic Psychotherapy. In 1972 He was
the Founder of the Gestalt Institute of Denver. He
is a Board Member and Senior Faculty of The Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, a non-profit Foundation founded
by Dr. Peter Levine dedicated to the healing of trauma
world-wide.
Dr. Heller is fluent in several languages
and teaches 5 months each year in centers throughout
Europe. He is co-author of a popular book on Trauma
titled CRASH COURSE published in English, German and
Danish. Psychodynamically trained, he specializes
in the interplay of attachment and developmental issues
with shock trauma which is the subject of his forthcoming
book. He has been on the Faculty of several major
American Universities and is currently affiliated
with the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute.
