Professional Title: Somatic Psychotherapist and certified bodyworker
Professional Description: Ariel Giarretto, MS, LMFT has been specializing in the treatment of both shock and developmental trauma since 1993. She practices in the US, Europe, and Canada as a somatic psychotherapist, a teacher and consultant. She works closely with Dr Levine, and is a practitioner and teacher of his model. She is intimately involved with the SE training programs and assists and mentors students worldwide. She gives frequent seminars at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to the ER staff, focusing on secondary traumatization as well as patient trauma prevention. For 11 years she was on staff at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, as a workshop and group leader, a private therapist and a member of the bodywork crew. She trained as a First Responder and was part of an emergency medical response team in the Ventana Wilderness. Prior to this she was a homebirth advocate, working for an alternative birthing center as a “doula” and childbirth educator. She has a practice in Berkeley and Santa Rosa, and frequently utilizes therapeutic touch and SE bodywork in her sessions.
