Welcome to our Practitioner Registry
This professional registry can help you locate a Somatic
Experiencing Practitioner or current Participant in the
3 year SE® training. You can reference the information
below, "What are the differences between the SE training
levels?" to determine if the provider listed is a
current participant in the training program or has completed
the entire 3 year course.
Somatic Experiencing® attracts experienced professionals
from a wide variety of healing and helping professions.
Many therapists who are competent in their respective
professions integrate Somatic Experiencing® into their
work. The Registrant's professional credentials and practice
specialties are recorded here to assist you in making
your selection for a provider in your area. Discuss with
the provider your needs and concerns so you can decide
whether they have the necessary skills to assist you in
meeting your need(s). Ultimately, you must feel comfortable
and safe with the service provider.

As a professional, how do I make an appropriate
referral?
When considering making a referral for your client, it
is recommended to contact the SE Practitioner or training
participant prior to making the referral. You may want
to discuss your client or patient without divulging confidential
information. It is important for you to feel comfortable
with the treatment method that the Practitioner would
employ. Often, SE® can be used in conjunction with other
treatment. The Practitioner should be willing to answer
any questions that you have.
How does
SE differ from other therapeutic modalities?
- SE employs awareness of body sensation to help
people "renegotiate" and heal rather than re-live
or re-enact trauma.
- SE's guidance of the bodily "felt sense," allows
the highly aroused survival energies to be safely
experienced and gradually discharged.
- SE "titrates" experience, rather than evoking catharsis
- which can overwhelm the regulatory mechanisms of
the organism.
- SE helps eliminate pitfalls of re-traumatization
and the spurious generation of "false memories".
What are the differences between the SE training
levels?
A participant in the Somatic Experiencing® training will
be taught according to the following curriculum:
- Beginning SE Participant = 1st
year participant in Somatic Experiencing Training.
- Intermediate SE Participant =
2nd year participant in Somatic Experiencing Training.
- Advanced SE Participant = Final
year participant in Somatic Experiencing Training.
- Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
= Practitioner that has completed the entire three
year training program and has met all certificate
requirements.
Note: The Foundation for Human Enrichment requires all
participants in our program to have professional credentials
prior to entering the training. Our training population
consists of Psychotherapists, Social Workers, Marriage
and Family Therapists, Counselors, Educators, Body Workers,
First Responders, Medical Doctors, Nurses, and many other
professions dedicated to healing and helping.
